We have done service wise Temporal setup (history, matching, frontend, worker) by following the below URL:
so, we have kept template/my_config_template.yaml on host machine, is it correct approach?considering if we want to upgrade version in future.

If you use custom template you would need to check it on version upgrades (if it’s still compatible with new release). You can compare it with your releases default here
